Mira is a dream
MIRA is a winery within a winery. A project that is being carried out together with Milan Nestarec in Velké Bílovice, Moravia, Czech Republic.
But above all, MIRA is Mira. Mirka Nestarcová. The driving force. Once a ballerina and dancer, she brings a much freer, almost artistic approach to everything. Unbound by dogma, with an open mind and unyielding positivity.
The wines are made the way we like them, the way we want to drink them. And most importantly, MIRA is a shared vision between Mirka and Milan. And of course the other colleagues in the team. Together we take care of the vineyards and the wines. It could never be otherwise.
Mira and Milan create wines in the same place, but each in their own way. MIRA is monovarietal. Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. The grapes come from two villages: Velké Bílovice and Moravský Žižkov, and from three different soils: loess, clay and sand.
MIRA is managed with freedom. Most of the vineyards are managed without pruning or with a system of minimal pruning. For the vineyards that are pruned, no topping is done. We try to give the vine as much space as possible, literally. We do not want to shape or form it into stiff, uniform wines.
Thanks to this free-growing system, we harvest grapes that are smaller, with smaller berries. This creates a different juice-to-skin ratio, a different structure. A better one. Of course, all vineyards are organically managed and certified.
The wine is finished in wood and concrete. These two old materials are used for fermenting and maturing the wines. Spontaneously. The wines are free of oenological inventions and the technological interventions are minimal.
Organic farming, interwoven with elements of biodynamics, regenerative agriculture, minimalism and holistic thinking. From the beginning, we have committed ourselves to approaching the soil, the grape and the wine individually. The wines may change slightly depending on the vintage, as we strive to treat them in the best possible way, depending on the growing season. Change is part of the game.
Mira is dreaming.
