Borovitza is more than a winery – it is a dream come true, born from the shared passion of two visionaries: Ognyan Tsvetanov and Adriana Srebrinova. With a life completely dedicated to wine, they managed to create a unique project that combines the beauty of nature and the soul of artisanal winemaking.

Inspired by deep-rooted local traditions, Borovitza stands for pure dedication. Adriana and Ognyan wanted not only to make exceptional wines, but also to honour the natural wealth and traditions of Northwestern Bulgaria – a region of breathtaking landscapes. Their mission? To create wines that reflect the character of the region and bring to life a deeper connection with nature.

From dream to reality

In the early years, the first harvests were still vinified in nearby wineries. But in 2005, Ognyan and Adriana took the plunge and bought the abandoned Borovitza cellar. Here they found the space to realize their vision: making special wines from authentic, regional grape varieties.

With passion, courage and a deep respect for the natural environment, they brought Borovitza to life. The area’s unique soil – formed by millions of years of weathering of the Belogradchik rocks – yielded grapes rich in minerals and character. Adriana and Ognyan harness this special soil to create artisanal terroir wines, often in small batches of just 250 to 1,800 bottles. Every detail of the process, from vineyard to bottle, is managed with love and care.

Honoring the Legacy

The collaboration between Ognyan and Adriana was more than a partnership. Their shared vision and mutual trust formed the foundation of Borovitza. Ognyan brought scientific precision, Adriana a holistic view – together they were a perfect team.

When Ognyan died unexpectedly in 2016, Borovitza lost not only a winemaker, but also a soul. Shortly before his passing, he asked Adriana to continue their work together, even after he was gone. Although she barely understood the weight of that promise at the time, she remained faithful to their shared mission after his death. “As long as the vineyard and the wine exist, it will exist,” says Adriana.

Today, Adriana continues with determination and love the work she and Ognyan started together. Every glass of Borovitza wine is an ode to craftsmanship, nature and an unforgettable shared passion – a tangible reminder of a dream that lives on.
