The story of Pasji Rep winery is a family story. For 4 generations, the Premrn family has been making wines in the micro-region of the Vipava Valley.

In the mid-1980s, Franc Premrn focused on a forgotten indigenous grape variety, Zelen. In addition to the resolute choice for the re-evaluation of indigenous grapes, a focus on responsible viticulture soon followed.

Biodynamic farming, natural winemaking

Pasji Rep vineyards are managed in an environmentally friendly way. All grapes are certified biodynamically grown. This means no chemical pesticides or fertilizers on this estate. All work in the vineyard is done manually, from pruning to picking the ripe grapes.

Furthermore, the wines are also made naturally. This means that no substances are added during the winemaking process. The alcoholic fermentation also occurs spontaneously, using the grape's own yeasts. Resulting in pure and tasty wines.

Vipava valley

The micro-wine region is located in Southwest Slovenia and has been known for its fine wines for 2000 years. The climate is characterized by the Mediterranean Sea (40 km) on one side and the Nanos Plateau on the other. The area is on the border of the Mediterranean and continental climate zones. The famous Burja winds, which go up to 200 km per hour, are a third factor influencing the climate.

The valley was known mainly for the production of wines from the indigenous Zelen grape. This grape gives particularly refined wines with an exceptional aroma. And are traditionally matured in acacia barrels.
