Tesch Riesling Unplugged 2022
In the music world, the term unplugged stands for unamplified performances. Musicians are forced to develop a pure & clean sound. Martin Tesch applies this philosophy to his beloved medium: Riesling. So expect a pure, mineral Riesling. Tight, stony and mineral.
“The third decade of Tesch’s former Kabinett trocken starts with the 2022 Riesling Unplugged, which opens with an intense, complex, mineral-driven nose of ripe, aromatic fruits. The medium-bodied dry Riesling is pure, tight, stimulating and transparent as well as saline on the naked finish. It is denser and more complex than the 2022 Tesch Riesling trocken yet not necessarily more attractive. It is more stringent and age-worthy, sure. Yet its true class will come out after some years of bottle age. 12% stated alcohol. Stelvin screw cap. Tasted in October 2023.” 90+ | S. Reinhardt | www.robertparker.com
“A nose of aromatic old apple varieties with a touch of lime zest. So much power and so much energy for just 11.5% alcohol. Sleek and very bright with a wonderful lime zest freshness. The salty finish pulls you back for more. Drink or hold.” 92 | S. Pigott | www.jamessuckling.com
“As always, the Unplugged Riesling has refreshing, lively acidity. The wine has floral notes in the nose. The mouth is medium-light with excellent salinity to go with incipient peach fruit. This is a perfect introduction to the estate’s lineup and ready to drink now. Screw cap closure. 11.5% stated alcohol.” 91/A- | C. Kolm | TheFineWineReview
